Yes, Slovenia has wine regions too - and very nice ones, like Jeruzalem and its surroundings. Jerry and I had the luck to explore it for a few days in April. Here are our impressions.

Jeruzalem - A Scenic Wine Region in Slovenia
Jeruzalem is located in the northeastern part of Slovenia and is known for its scenic vineyards, super good wine and lush hills. If you are a wine-lover, a fan of vineyards, a gem-seeker or a cyclist, then this might be the region for YOU! Let's be honest, it's not really "on the way" but if you're seeking something special, those extra hours of driving are totally worth it. As Slovenians, we heard about this region a couple of times but we haven't visited it yet. Visiting this region now, we can say it is so unique, a MUST SEE in Slovenia and it definitely needs more attention among locals and tourists.
Let the pics speak for themselves:
Sitting on the balcony and watching the sun go down behind the vineyards is was so beautiful! Read below where we stayed and book your room asap! Good news: Every room has a balcony ;)
Where to Stay in Jeruzalem, Slovenia?
There is this place called Taverna & Wine Jeruzalem, which was our guesthouse while biking around this region. We were fascinated by its great location, restaurant with the lovely terrace, its cozy rooms and the balcony with views over the vineyards. We would love to come back!
Biking in Jeruzalem & Around - Where to Go?
Starting from the Taverna & Wine Jeruzalem, we suggest to do the following route:
Svetinje - Vinski Vrh - Pavlovci - Ormož - Lake Ormož - Frankovci - Grabe - Središče ob Dravi - Vitan - Vuzmetinci - Miklavž pri Ormožu - Jeruzalem - Svetinje
We started about 11 am and ended about 4 pm, including all the coffee and sandwich stops :) It's only very hilly at the beginning and at the end, as Svetinje is located on the hill, but the rest is quite easy to drive! Enjoy!
