Slovenia Hidden Gems
1# Lake Blaguš | Slovenians Travel
"Our favourite off the beaten path destination in Slovenia is Lake Blaguš. We love this place because it was one of our dog's favourite spots and we have such great memories from here. It's a great spot for a romantic picnic, a walk or just relaxing."
2# Pomurje | Nina Travels
"Our favourite off the beaten path destination in Slovenia is Pomurje - the Northeast region in Slovenia. We love this place because it offers good food, wine, hospitality, rich history, tradition and a view to 4 countries from a neet viewing tower Vinarium. Its more or less flat landscape offers great possibilities for cycling and its numerous spas with natural spring water are perfect for relaxation after a busy day of exploration."
We are Nina, Simon and Ren - traveling family who enjoy exploring the world and its beauties. We traveled before we got our baby boy and we did not stop now, showing people that nothing is impossible, not even traveling with a baby.
3# Pokljuka | Povsod Je Lepo
"Our favourite off the beaten path destination in Slovenia is no-named hills just before Pokljuka. We love this place because there is absolutely no people, many mushrooms and magical creatures."
4# Mostnica Gorge & Voje Valley | Beauty we live
"Our favourite off the beaten path destination in Slovenia is Mostnica Gorge and Voje valley near Bohinj lake. We love this place because of its calmness, beautiful nature, charming waterfall in the end of Voje valley, breathtaking Gorge of Mostnica and delicious food in mountain hut at Voje. Round path is 11 km long, but it is suitable also for kids and people of all age, specially in hot summer days."
We are curious family of four from Slovenia. We like to spend time together, to ramble, to explore and to travel. We like to leave our comfort zone and our cozy home, because it gives us opportunity to introduce something new, something unknown and beautiful.
5# Konjščica | Andreja's World
"Our favourite off the beaten path destination in Slovenia is plateau Konjščica (Pokljuka). We love this place because of nature, serenity and beautiful views."
6# Confluence of River Sava Dolinka and Bohinjka | Moja Jezera
One of my favourite hidden places is the confluence of rivers Sava Dolinka and Sava Bohinjka. Let me explain why I love it with a story: I was searching for a lake near that place. I was walking through meadows and forests on tiny lonely paths to find it. Just before I found the exact location of that lake, I heard some water behind the bushes. I was too curious not to step further and some minutes later I spotted these awesome waterfall place. The lake was pretty boring compared to this sight. Sometimes in life, when you are looking for something, in my case a lake nearby, the destination is not always the most beautiful thing. You have to be curious enough to walk towards your goal with your eyes wide open. A true life teacher, don't you think?
I am a passionate explorer of all Slovenian lakes, especially the hidden. I travel by bike so I can be active all day and be close to nature. Why lakes? Because the water is like a meditation to me. And because they are too pretty not to visit them.

7# Otlica Window | Lahkih Nog Naokrog
"Our favourite off the beaten path destination in Slovenia is Otliško okno (Otlica window). We love this place because it is a natural rock formation, that can be reached by an easy walk from the nearby village or a longer and steeper hike from the valley below (our preferred option :)). The window offers great views over lovely Vipava valley (also known as Slovenian Tuscany) and further to the Adriatic sea. The place is also perfect for admiring the sunsets and thus very romantic."
We are Katarina and Rok from Lahkih nog naokrog, travelling couple whose motivation is our hand drawn world map on the wall in our living room. We like to discover hidden places, hike and climb the mountains and enjoy amazing views.

8# Lake Cerknica | Finding Malokoko
"Our favourite off the beaten path destination in Slovenia is lake Cerknica. We love this place because of its ability to completely transform itself and the surrounding landscape. The intermittent lake keeps changing its water levels throughout the year - it becomes the largest lake in the country when it is full, but sometimes it stays completely dry for several months in a row.“

Our favourite off the beaten path destination in Slovenia is Kočevski rog. We love this place because Kočevje region represents the best preserved forest habitat in Europe and one of it’s largest – meaning it's truly off the beaten track. It offers solitude, incredibly beautiful nature and a chance to do some forest bathing - leisurely visiting a forest for health benefits. And kids love it.
