Come on, give your body a little bit of adventure time! Forget about the old bones, the pain in the back and all the stupid fears which circle in your brain. Give it a try (life is short!) and combine it with a road trip to a small, off-beaten country in the Alps with amazing nature! Below, you can find some fun summer activities you can do when travelling around Slovenia.
Summer Sledding in Kranjska Gora
A fun thing to do if you seek some adventure in Slovenia is summer sledding in Kranjska Gora. When you pay the 10 EUR for your first ride, you will have to take the (very slow) ski lift and wait for approx. 15 minutes to finally reach the top of the hill. Then you are ready to sled down - we loved it as it is quite steep at some parts, it goes fast and this combination gives you the adrenaline you are hoping for! A Go Pro video is coming soon.
Skydiving in Portoroz
Would you jump out of a plane from 3,300 metres and experience a free fall of ca. 40 seconds? Well, this is possible at the Slovenian seaside at the Airport Portoroz. It costs about 190 EUR and can be booked in advance. Another option where both of used jumped out of a plane was in Lesce, located in the Northern part of Slovenia.
Hiking to the Top of Triglav
Triglav with its 2,864 metres is the highest mountain in Slovenia, located in the scenic Triglav National Park. The ascend is not the easiest one, as it takes one from 5 hours to 2 days to reach the peak of Triglav (depends on the way you take and your fitness level). The best time to climb the mountain is from July to middle of October when there is no snow.
Stand-up Paddling at Lake Bled
SUP adventure at Lake Bled! You can rent the board for 10 EUR per hour at the camp ZAKA. Then we advise to paddle to the cute island in the middle of the Lake Bled. The scenic mountainous surrounding will amaze you!
Cycling to the Peak of Mangartsko Sedlo
This popular cycling tour to the top of Mangartsko sedlo is very demanding, as it starts at 1,100 m and ends at 2,055 m. The sweat drops are worth since one is awarded with top panoramic views over the Julian Alps!
Kayaking in Bovec
When in Slovenia, one shouldn't miss an adventure on the Soca river! One of the cool things to do is to choose a kayaking tour on the emerald river. The best way is to take a tour with a local provider which normally takes about 3 hours and costs approx. 80 EUR. If you only rent a kayak and go on your own, the prices start from 20 EUR for 4 hours.
Zipline in Planica
Want to try the steepest zipline descent in the world? Well, Planica is the right place to be. Find out where the best Slovenian ski jumpers (like Peter Prevc) learn to fly! Book your descent in advance and bring 25 EUR with you. There are also other amazing zipline places in Slovenia, like Bohinj (15 EUR) and Bovec (8 ziplines, 55 EUR).
Slovenia is an amazing country for summer activities - It offers numerous adventures, not only the ones above. Of course, other sports such as rafting, canoeing, canyoning, adventure parks, paragliding ... are available too. Since the activities are quite affordable and take place in awe-inspiring nature spots, we consider Slovenia as a great destination for adventure activities!
